How To Celebrate Fall

What do you think about when fall arrives? What do you associate it with?

Fallen leaves? Cold? Wind?

Or autumn? Pumpkin Spice? Halloween? Oranges and Reds? Warmth?

Whether you like it or not, fall enters like an unavoidable old friend coming to say hello every year. Traditionally, the fall season in the U.S. is marked from Labor Day to Thanksgiving. Below is some information about fall traditions in the U.S. and fall festivals that may be helpful for you to spend the fall with fun and amazing experiences.

Apple Picking

Apple picking is a family activity for many American families. Many farms or orchards will conduct apple-picking activities to invite families to pick up apples. You can pick apples from trees directly, and your apples will be charged by the weight. Besides apple picking, some farms conduct other activities such as pumpkin picking, corn picking, etc.

Pumpkin

In the U.S., pumpkin, especially the large, orange pumpkin, is the most common and representative feature in fall and plays an important role in the fall months. You will see not only ripen pumpkin but also pumpkin-flavored everything. Pumpkin pie is one of the typical traditional fall desserts in the U.S. As time goes by, more and more pumpkin-flavored food appears such as pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin cookies, and pumpkin spice lattes. Fall is incomplete without pumpkins.

Halloween

What do you think of when someone says fall? Halloween! Halloween is originally from the Celtic festival of Samhain, and it has become one of the most common and important festivals in the U.S. Halloween occupies a specific position especially in kids’ mind. Halloween costume parties, trick-or-treating, pumpkin lanterns, apple bobbing–these symbols are twisted together, and knit into the final impression of what Halloween is.
